This look combines both the leather and the lace, making a really simple but a very effective look. I will take inspiration from this look and build around it to make my own for the magazine.

I like the contrast of the feminine lace with the dark colour of the dress. I think putting this look together with the look I previously mentioned with the leather could make a edgy look with an attitude that I am looking for for my  magazine cover.

I like this look because it is slightly different to something you see everyday and I think it could fit well with a rock genre magazine. The leather waistcoat is definitely something I could use as inspiration when taking the photos for my own work.

My Chemical Romance

 

The first picture is a still from their video for 'Desolation Row' which was a cover, originally done by Bob Dylan. The Second picture is them on the cover of Kerrang magazine when the came back for their fourth album. The third picture is the cover of their third album 'The Black Parade'. The last picture is from when I went to see them in Birmingham on the 13th of February 2011.
The video is for 'The Ghost of You', a single from their second album 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge'.

Evanescence

The first picture is a still from their video of 'What You Want', the first single released from their third self titled album. The second picture is frontwoman Amy Lee on the cover of Kerrang after coming back with their third album. The third picture is the cover of their second album 'The Open Door'. The fourth picture is from when I won a competition to meet the band on the 13th of November 2011 and the last picture is of the concert later that night.
The video is for 'Lithium', the second single released from 'the Open Door'.

VersaEmerge

The first picture is the cover of their fourth album 'Fixed at Zero'. the second picture is a still from the video for the single 'Fixed at Zero'. The third picture is from a photoshoot when the VersaEmerge EP came out.
The video is for 'Fixed at Zero', a single from the album of the same name.

Paramore

The first picture is a still of the video for 'Crushcrushcrush' a single from their second album, 'Riot!' The second picture is the cover of their second album and the third picture is them on the cover on NME magazine.
The video is for 'Brick by Boring Brick' from their third album, 'Brand New Eyes'.

 Automatic Loveletter

 

The first picture is the cover to 'Recover', their first EP. The second picture is the band from a photo shoot and the last picture is front woman Juliet Simms playing live. 

The video is one of the very few videos they have released and is for 'Hush', a single from the 'Recover' EP.

The Pretty Reckless

The first picture is front woman Taylor Momsen on the front of 'Faze' magazine. The second picture is a video still from the 'Make Me Wanna Die' video, a single from their first album 'Light Me Up'. The third picture is the album cover to 'Light Me Up'. The last picture is from when they were supporting Evanescence in November 2011.

The video is for the song 'Make Me Wanna Die'.

Within Temptation

Magazine Cover

Today I worked on my preliminary cover. I used the magic wand and the lasso tool to cut around the picture.

Preliminary Activity: Print

Preliminary exercise: Using DTP and an image manipulation program produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photogrpah of a student in a medium close up plus some appropriately laid out text and a masthead. Additionally, candidates must produce a DTP mock up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their group of the program.

Planning -  Take photos of planning work, analyse problems,
Audience - Costumes, take photos, screenshots
Ideas - Simple, 25 word pitch,
Feedback - Feedback from family and friends
Logistics - People, places, do it early, prepare, rehearse,
Equipment - Practise with equipment, get to know the equipment, make the most of it,
Production - take more pictures than you'll need, number shots, organise,
Reflection - Post about what went on and what you are happy with.
