Magazine Cover




Today I worked on my preliminary cover. I used the magic wand and the lasso tool to cut around the picture.

Preliminary Activity: Print

Preliminary exercise: Using DTP and an image manipulation program produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photogrpah of a student in a medium close up plus some appropriately laid out text and a masthead. Additionally, candidates must produce a DTP mock up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their group of the program.

Hold camera steady and close
Make sure shutter speed is greater than 160
Eyes and face are the most important features
Don't shine light in face of model
The more lights equals less shadows
Male and female shots will look different

Top Tips -
Research - Analyse a magazine, look at different angles,
Planning -  Take photos of planning work, analyse problems,
Audience - Costumes, take photos, screenshots
Ideas - Simple, 25 word pitch,
Feedback - Feedback from family and friends
Logistics - People, places, do it early, prepare, rehearse,
Equipment - Practise with equipment, get to know the equipment, make the most of it,
Production - take more pictures than you'll need, number shots, organise,
Reflection - Post about what went on and what you are happy with.
